So how do we take responsibility for our actions and fix things for ourselves?I’m so glad you asked that question! There are many, many things you can and should do to take responsibility for yourself and your family but the #1 absolutely most important thing you can do is: STOP SPENDING OTHER PEOPLES MONEY!!!!!STOP buying on credit!STOP buying things you can’t afford!STOP getting loans for vehicles you don’t need!STOP buying houses big enough for 5 families for just you, your spouse, 2 kids and 1.5 animals!STOP expecting the government to support you!STOP using unemployment benefits just because you can!STOP using welfare, disability and all the other entitlement programs unless you literally cannot feed your family without them!STOP spending every single dime you have 2 weeks before you have it!STOP living on 120% of your income! You get the idea?Live below your means, be generous with your time, talents and MONEY!Take 10% of your income and donate it to your church/synagogue/charitable organization you believe in.Take 10% of your income and put it away for retirement.Take 10% of your income and put it away for large purchases. Live on the other 70% and try to sock away a portion of that for emergencies. Our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents lived a very modest life by current standards but you know what…THEY DIDN’T OWE ANYBODY ANYTHING!!!Yes we live a much more extravagant life with many, many more doo-dads but what good has all of that done for us? Are we better off? Are we happier? Are our children better people for it? NO! NO! NO!Eric
